Tubal Microsurgery
Microsurgery in female infertility is primarily used for
tubal reanastosomosis (rejoining) in order to reverse a
previous tubal ligation. Microsurgery allows the use of
very fine sutures so that the delicate inner lining of the
fallopian tube is not disrupted. The application of high-power
optics is the basis for tubal microsurgery. The success
following tubal microsurgery depends on the length of the
remaining tubal segments and the quality of the fimbria.
Tubal microsurgery is generally performed by laparotomy
although the laparoscopic route has been used. Success rates
also depend on the skill and experience of the microsurgeon.
